Pattaya has a number of beaches to choose from, the closest of which to Royal Thai Residence is Jomtien. If you’re interested in a more exotic beach holiday, the Koh Larn island is a beautiful day trip.
There are two ways to get out to the island. The cheaper option is the ferry, which leaves from Bali Hai pier on a schedule. The fee is 30 Baht per person, paid as you enter on to the boat, and the duration for the ride is about 40 minutes. There are two docking points on the island for the ferry: Naban Port is residential and houses resorts and spas if that’s part of your holiday fun; the other is Tawaen Beach where you can take in the breath-taking vistas. You can get from one end of the island to the other using the inexpensive Song Taew, so you can stop at either port and depart from either port without any issues.
The second way to the island is speed boat. This method only takes about 15 minutes and there are far more launching points than the ferry’s set schedule at Bali Hai. However, the cost of a speed boat is 1,500-3,000 Baht depending on the size of the boat, so this option is best if you are going with a small group and can share the cost. If you choose to take a speed boat you can find them easily along any stretch of Beach Road.
