Walking Street is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Thailand. Located just a 7-10 minute drive by motorbike taxi or Baht Bus, Walking Street follows along the waterfront between the Bali Hai Pier and Beach Road. True to its name, the stretch is pedestrian only and you can get from one end to the other in about 20 minutes – unless you’re stopping to see all the endless things there are to see, eat and drink along the way.
Walking Street is best known as a “Red Light District” and there are plenty of Go-Go Bars and entertainment shows. So many that you could go every night and it would take you weeks to see them all. But from the street you have a sensory feast of the lights and music, tons of food stalls and knick-knacks and motorcycle accessories. You don’t see much of the Go-Go club aspects unless you go inside one of the various buildings, so if you’re just curious to see the sights you need not be intimidated to stroll through Walking Street. We personally recommend the small Gelato cafe just 200 meters from the Beach Road side, on the left.
